Get in the mood for Halloween with these fun and festive spooky drink recipes! The Haunted Fog Latte is a Halloween-themed twist on a traditional London Fog featuring charcoal syrup, and the Halloween Matcha Latte combines matcha with purple sweet potato cold foam.
Haunted Fog Latte
Ingredients
- Two teaspoons Earl Grey Francais
- 8 oz almond milk, hot
- Charcoal syrup
- Frothed milk
- Organic active charcoal powder
For the charcoal syrup:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp organic active charcoal powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation Instructions
- Heat milk until simmering, then add loose leaf tea leaves and infuse for 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine water, maple syrup, charcoal powder and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil. Stir until well combined.
- Remove from heat, allow to cool.
- Pour hot milk into a glass mug, add 2 tsp of syrup.
- Top with the frothed milk and dust with charcoal powder.
Halloween Matcha Latte
Ingredients
- Ice cubes
- Almond milk
- 1 tsp culinary grade matcha powder
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 tbsp purple sweet potato syrup
For syrup:
- 1 purple sweet potato, peeled and set into small pieces
- 2 cups water
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
- 1/2 tsp ginger, ground
- 1/4 tsp cloves, ground
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg, ground
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation instructions
- Add all the syrup ingredients into a medium saucepan at medium heat. Stir until well combined.
- Lower the heat and cook until sweet potatoes are soft.
- Remove from heat and strain the sweet potatoes and save the syrup for the latte. Cool completely.
- Whisk matcha powder and water until smooth, set aside.
- To make the purple frothed milk, warm 1/4 cup almond milk, add 1 tbsp purple sweet potato syrup, and froth until foamy.
- To assemble the latte, add some ice into a glass and pour the milk on top. Add in whisked matcha and stir. Top with sweet potato foam.
