Our organic Ceylon black tea is a rich, smooth and highly aromatic black tea from Koslanda, Sri Lanka’s premier region for organic teas. It makes a brisk cup with just a hint of spice, and is a fine example of Ceylon tea at its best.

Cups Per Package

This tea is carefully blended and packaged by hand in a reusable tin or a resealable kraft bag. Our 3.5 oz. tin or kraft bag makes approximately 40 cups of tea. Our 7 oz. kraft bag makes approximately 80 cups.

Ingredients

Organic black tea (Origin: Sri Lanka)

Tasting Notes

Brisk and robust with malty, toasty, and spicy notes.

How to Brew Ceylon Tea

Use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz. water. Heat water to boiling. Steep for 2 to 4 minutes. For best taste, do not over steep. These leaves can also handle a second or even third infusion.

We recommend preparing Ceylon using a teapot, tea infuser, or tea filter. These brewing methods give the tea leaves enough room to expand as the tea steeps, resulting in a richer, more flavorful cup. Ceylon can be enjoyed on its own for a brisk, refreshing cup, and also goes well with a splash of milk and sweetener or as a base for a tea latte.

Ceylon Tea Caffeine Content

Black tea contains a moderate amount of caffeine, less than half as much as coffee per cup.

Ceylon Tea Benefits

Black tea boosts energy, helps with focus, and is a lower-caffeine alternative to coffee.

More About Ceylon

Our Ceylon is organic and is from Koslanda, Sri Lanka’s premier region for organic teas. Tea plants smuggled from China were first introduced to Sri Lanka in the 1800s while under British rule. At the time, the region was called Ceylon, which lent its name to the tea produced there.

While tea production in Sri Lanka started off with only a few tea plantations, tea continued to gain popularity as an export throughout the 19th century and beyond. Today, Sri Lanka is one of the largest producers of tea in the world. In addition to Ceylon black tea, Sri Lanka also produces other specialty teas, including green and white tea.

It has notes of citrus and spice, and is delicious enjoyed on its own or with a splash of milk and honey. This classic black tea is high in caffeine, containing about half as much as coffee per cup. If you’re a fan of robust black teas, be sure to give our Ceylon a try!

Ceylon is similar in character to Indian black teas like Assam and Nilgiri. It brews up a bright reddish color with moderate astringency, and makes for a brisk cup of tea with a hint of citrus and spice. It's delicious enjoyed on its own or with a splash of milk and honey. This classic black tea is high in caffeine, containing about half as much as coffee per cup. If you’re a fan of robust black teas, be sure to give our Ceylon a try!
