Bancha is a Japanese green tea harvested in late summer. Similar in character to Sencha, Bancha is harvested later in the year, when the leaves are larger and thicker. This results in a grassy, fresh tea with a light body.

Cups Per Package

This tea is carefully blended and packaged by hand in a reusable tin or a resealable kraft bag. Our 4 oz. tin or kraft bag makes approximately 35 – 40 cups of tea. Our 8 oz. kraft bag makes approximately 70 – 80 cups.

Ver nice alternative to Sencha

I’ve been drinking various Japanese teas now for over 30 years. This Tea shop is a blessing as it was difficult to import and then not knowing if the tea was fresh or not. Even though not a regular I’ve dealt with them since the day they opened and everything and everyone is wonderful.
Back to the tea. This is a bit more robust than Sencha which is to be expected with not being a first picking. It can be just slightly more bitter so keep temp and brewing time down to not increase it. It’s a tea that gets better with a second and even third pour over the leaves.
